Thai police are investigating nominal companies on Koh Saui

The Thai police are conducting a complex investigation into nominal companies and cannabis business on Koh Samui, including Koh Ko. According to Thairath.co.th, one person was found to own 87 companies.

Over 50,000 companies in the areas of Samui and Phangan were checked as part of the operation. During the investigation, it was discovered that many companies use foreign nominal owners to avoid taxes and other obligations.

This has caused concern among local authorities, who consider a thorough check of all companies on the island necessary. According to information from Thairath.co.th, the operation was carried out jointly with the Department of Business Development and the Anti-Organized Crime Department.

Currently, an investigation is underway, and it is planned to expand the case to other Thai resort cities. During the operation, 27 people were detained, many of whom turned out to be nominal owners of companies.

According to Thai PBS, more than 60 companies were found to have violated regulations. Work is being done to identify all related individuals and organizations.
