On May 23, 2026, Thai police in Surat Thani province completed the second phase of an operation to combat the use of nominee owners by foreigners on Koh Phangan island. During the operation, 22 foreigners were arrested. More than 40 rai of land, with a total estimated value of over 200 million baht, were also seized.
