In the lively Huai Khwang district in central Bangkok, an incident involving motorcycle taxi drivers and police occurred. The incident took place in the early morning of June 14, 2026. According to preliminary information, a border police officer opened fire on a group of motorcycle taxi drivers due to a conflict arising from a dispute over a fare. As a result, one person was killed on the spot, and two others were injured and taken to a hospital. The body of a 37-year-old motorcycle taxi driver was found at the scene. Two of his colleagues, aged 46 and 48, were hospitalized with injuries to the thigh and arm. Witnesses reported that the conflict began with a verbal altercation, after which the suspect fired shots at the motorcyclists. Shortly after, 33-year-old Police Senior Sergeant Namthap Pakwatthana, an officer of the Border Patrol Police Bureau, surrendered to the authorities. A pistol, presumably used during the shooting, was found in his possession. During interrogation, the suspect stated that the conflict started over a fare dispute and escalated into a fight.
