Chinese student rescued from scammers in Bangkok

Thai police assisted a 21-year-old Chinese student who was forced by an international group of fraudsters to stage her own kidnapping and demand a ransom of 3 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 12.5 million baht) from her relatives. The victim had previously transferred 1.4 million HKD (approximately 5.8 million baht) to the fraudsters under the pretext of paying for her tuition. Following the instructions of the perpetrators, she traveled to Bangkok and created evidence for the blackmail. Investigators tracked her movements and rescued the girl at a hotel in Samut Prakan province. Police warn against succumbing to pressure, advise verifying messages, and to call hotline 1599 if necessary.
