Former Finnish Formula 1 driver Mika Salo was injured while on vacation in Thailand. The incident occurred on May 19 in Bangkok when Salo was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. An unknown individual on a motorcycle inflicted a leg wound on him, presumably with a knife. According to Mika Salo himself, he did not immediately realize what had happened. "I felt a blow, but didn't immediately understand what happened. Only later did I discover that my leg was covered in blood," the racer said. The situation is concerning because several other people with similar injuries were admitted to the hospital that same evening. There are fears that these could be targeted attacks by motorcyclists on pedestrians. Due to the injury and the need for quick wound healing, doctors recommended that Mika Salo limit physical activity and spend most of his time in his hotel room. This led to the racer having to cut short his vacation. Despite what happened, Mika Salo remains optimistic. He called the assailant a "lone wolf" and stated that he is not afraid of motorcyclists in the city.
