Malaysian tourists threaten to boycott Thailand over motorbike fines

Malaysian tourists who received fines for traffic violations on motorbikes in Pattaya threaten to boycott the country. The situation has caused concern among local authorities and attracted attention from local media.

According to sources from Thairath.co.th, a group of Malaysian tourists was fined over 120,000 baht for traffic violations. The tourists claim that the fines were unjust and unfair.

"We want to boycott Thailand because of these fines," one tourist said in an interview with a local newspaper. The tourists say they received receipts with unclear amounts and were unable to obtain official documents.

In response to these claims, Pattaya police stated that they are investigating the situation and will act according to the law. "We will not remain inactive if we have grounds for investigation," noted the head of police.

Currently, Pattaya police are conducting an investigation into the issuance of receipts to tourists. As a result, several police officers were temporarily relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

"We will not tolerate unlawful actions by the police," one tourist emphasized, adding that they intend to seek help from their diplomatic representations. Pattaya police urge tourists to abide by traffic rules and not evade payment of fines.

In cases of disputed situations, the police are ready to conduct an investigation and take measures according to the law. At present, the situation is under control by local police, which continues to investigate the issuance of receipts to tourists.
