The Phuket Airport Customs Service prevented an attempt to illegally import 38 mobile devices by three foreign nationals. The incident occurred on May 28 in the international arrivals area. The detainees were citizens of Uzbekistan – Okunju Fayzullaev, 35, Nodir Atabekov, 24, and Bekruz Mukhtorov, 20, from Kazakhstan. The undeclared mobile phones were discovered in their luggage while passing through the "Green Channel," intended for passengers who do not have goods subject to declaration. During the baggage inspection, 38 foreign-made smartphones were found. The detainees admitted their involvement in moving the luggage. They have been charged with smuggling, importing, or transporting goods without paying duties, which are subject to restrictions or require special customs clearance. The detainees and seized mobile devices have been transferred to the Saku police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
