Arrest of a Korean fugitive in Phuket after 8-year border crossing

The Phuket Police arrested a Korean man who had been staying in Thailand without proper permission for over eight years. The information was published by the local newspaper, The Phuket News.

According to the source, the detained individual was a citizen of the Republic of Korea and had been residing in Thailand illegally since 2014. Currently, he is under investigation for illegal border crossing.

Police conducted an operation to arrest the fugitive after receiving information about his whereabouts. After the arrest, the Korean man was taken to a police station for further investigation.

At present, investigators are working on collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish all the circumstances of the case. It is expected that the court will make a decision on remand or release on bail in the near future.

This is the second case of arresting a Korean fugitive in Phuket within the last few months. Last year, another citizen of the Republic of Korea was also arrested after being in Thailand illegally for more than seven years.

The Phuket Police urge citizens of the Republic of Korea to comply with Thai legislation and obtain necessary documents for legal residence in the country.
