Concrete Mixer Rams Three Vehicles and Restaurant Near Kata Noi Beach Karon Police are investigating another road accident on the downhill slope near Kata Noi Beach. This time, the driver of a concrete mixer lost control on the slope, and one person sustained serious injuries. The accident at the intersection, where the road to Kata Noi Beach begins, occurred around 1:30 PM on May 21. The incident, like many others before it, was captured by surveillance cameras. The footage shows an out-of-control concrete mixer descending from the hill near After Beach Bar, ramming a taxi and a Coca-Cola truck, and then crashing into a restaurant building at the intersection. A taxi parked near the restaurant was also hit. The Phuket News reported that the accident was a "chain reaction," but the videos available to The Phuket News do not show the beginning of the incident. The Phuket News also added that the concrete mixer "somehow did not hit any of the passing motorcycles." However, this fortunate circumstance might be due to the absence of motorcycles at the intersection at the time of the accident. According to the initial police report, taxi driver Sampan Kaewchang sustained serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Chalong Hospital. "Several other people" sustained minor injuries, one of whom was identified in the report as Bang-On Suriyong. If the driver of the concrete mixer, Alison Langyanai, was injured, the police document does not mention it. Property damage was inflicted on the two aforementioned vehicles and the Red Lobster restaurant building. The police report says nothing about the causes of the accident.
